George J. Stigler George J. Stigler
1982 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences
George J. Stigler received the 1982 Nobel Prize in economic sciences for his important studies of industrial structures, the functioning of markets and the causes and effects of public regulation, carried out at the University. He was a member of faculty 1958-1991, serving as the Clark R. Walgreen Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus of American Institutions in the GSB Department of Economics.
